JMC - Joseph McCarthy Mirror & Frame Makers



Acceptance of these terms is signified and implied by the customer ordering the goods in writing or e-mail, by phone or in person.  These terms relate to all goods manufactured as part of the Joseph McCarthy Mirror & Frame Makers (JMC) bespoke service.  JMC has the right to revise and amend these terms and conditions from time to time to reflect changes in market conditions affecting our business, technology, payment methods, relevant laws and regulatory requirements and/or in our system’s capabilities. You will be subject to the policies and terms in force at the time that you order the Goods from us, unless any change to those policies or these terms is required by law or government or regulatory authority (in which case, it will apply to orders you have previously placed that we have not yet fulfilled).



Copyright and ownership - All materials on this Site, including but not limited to audio, images, software, text, methodologies and video clips (collectively referred to as the 'Content') are protected by copyright laws and international conventions. You cannot use the Content, except as specified here in. You agree to follow all instructions on this Site limiting the way you may use the Content. There are proprietary logos and trademarks found on this Site belonging to or other organisations. By making them available on this Site, is not granting you any licence to utilise those proprietary logos or trademarks. Any unauthorised use of the Content may be in breach of copyright laws, trademark laws, the laws of privacy and publicity, and civil and criminal statutes.



Quality & Warranty: JMCwarrants that (subject to other provisions of these conditions) goods on delivery shall

be of satisfactory quality within the meaning of the sale of goods act 1979 and reasonably fit for the intended purpose.

Dimensions:All dimensions are to be considered approximate. Please contact Joseph McCarthy Mirror & Frame Makers if more detailed information is required.

Finishes:   All products are uniquely hand finished, therefore slight variations in finish may occur. It is the nature of hand finishing and indeed one of the attractions for a buyer to choose it over the ‘machine finished’ alternatives.

Description: Where digitally-created representation of the goods has been provided to give a ‘mock-up’ visualisation of the Goods in proposed situation, it provides merely an artist’s impression of the end look and cannot be relied on as exact representation of the final result. Note: colours will be affected by your monitor and by your printer and therefore may not be 100% accurate to the finished product.

Composition Ornament:  Decorative frames are made using traditional techniques and materials and may be subject to shrinkage and minor cracking.  These are superficial and will not affect the structural stability of the frame itself.

Mirror Glass:  Due to the manufacturing processes minor defects/imperfections such as seeds, blisters or hairlines are to be accepted if they fall within the industry standards for ‘Acceptable Glass Quality’ – stating that a defect must be visible from a distance of 2.0 metres when viewed in natural daylight (and not in direct sunlight) 

Mirrored Televisions: JMC does not carry out installations of mirrored televisions, but are happy to suggest specialists that will provide this service.  All costs attached to the installation of a mirrored television will be between the clientand the specialist, and not connected to JMC.  All mirrored televisions are covered by a 2 Year Warranty. Any requirements under this warranty will be handled by Reflectv, Top Floor, 29 Cambridge Road, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 1DE



Pricing:All JMC’s quotations are issued E & OE (errors and omissions excepted) and are valid for 30 days. Pricing applies to the specific details described in the order confirmation (size, style and finish). Prices are ex VAT and exclude delivery charge unless otherwise stated. Delivery costs will be detailed separately either on the same goods invoice or with an additional invoice when delivery time/details have been agreed with the client.

JMC reserves the right to change pricing if circumstances require without prior notice.

Placing an order:

All orders must be confirmed in writing or by email. Any amendments to your order must also be received in writing. Delivery times are quoted from receipt of payment and are to be treated as estimates only.

Purchases from Stock:Goods purchased from stock are sold as seen and require payment in full prior to delivery and fitting (if requested)

Custom/Bespoke products: Any custom product ie. nonstandard size, finish or design, manufactured to a customer’s individual specification cannot be returned.   JMC retains all intellectual property rights over all custom-made designs.

Lead times: Production on orders will commence upon receipt of deposit payment. Lead times estimated apply from date of received deposit payment. 



Bespoke Mirror/Frame Orders:All orders require full payment in advance and must be received prior to commencement of production.

Bespoke Mirrored TV Orders:All orders require full payment in advance and must be received prior to commencement of production of the item.

Purchases from Stock:  Any items purchased from stock require full payment prior to delivery/collection.

All products remain the property of JMC until paid for in full.

Methods of payment:

Bank Transfer: Please reference your invoice number and name on the wire transfer for faster identification. Please email a copy of the transfer confirmation to info@josephmccarth.co.uk  for our records. 

Cheques - Payable to “Joseph McCarthy (Fine Frames) Ltd.” should be posted with a copy of the Invoice to Joseph McCarthy Mirror & Frame Makers, The Pantiles Coach House, London Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN2 5BF



Delivery charges apply to all orders. A delivery quotation can be supplied upon request. Delivery charges are non-refundable. All deliveries rely on accurate access details being provided by the client, if delivery cannot take place due to inaccurate information a redelivery charge will be incurred. If the buyer has any doubt, a site visit can be carried out and the client will be charged for the time it takes.

Our delivery driver is happy to call the contact number provided approximately an hour before the delivery is due to take place. Our standard and special delivery service does not include wall mounting/installation of mirrors etc but a quotation for this service can be provided upon request.

Special delivery - 1 or 2 man delivery on a designated vehicle, at a date, time and location to suit their client. Prices available upon request.

JMC will not be held responsible for any difficulties experienced with your delivery. All costs incurred for redeliveries and amendments to your order will be charged.



JMC has 3rdparty liability for goods in trust to a maximum value of £5,000.  Any items to be received valued in excess of this amount will require JMC to be formally notified. An indemnity cost will be agreed prior to receiving the item/s.

All goods are supplied by JMC on the condition that our liability for any fault or defect in the quality, condition, description or suitability for any purpose is limited to an amount not exceeding the original purchase price of the particular goods ordered.



Storage Fees:Please note that storage fees may be charged if clients defer from the original scheduled &/or agreed delivery date by more than one calendar week. Customers are advised to contact JMC immediately to discuss any revisions to their installation dates.

Cancellations:Deposits are non-refundable on cancelled bespoke/custom orders once work has begun.

Orders cancelled after 14 days are non-refundable. Any cancellations or changes to the order must be requested in writing within 14 days from placement of initial order. Items purchased from stock are sold as seen. Any orders placed on terms cancelled after the 14-day term will incur a 50% restocking fee. Custom, non-standard products manufactured to a customer’s specification cannot be returned due to the unique nature of the individual piece. Delivery charges are non-refundable.

Returns:All orders are checked prior to leaving our workshop, upon delivery the risk in the goods passes to the client, you are required to inspect the goods upon receipt and report any loss or damages to JMC within 48 hours, returns cannot be accepted after this time. Outward and return carriage will not be credited. Bespoke & custom orders are non-returnable.

To enable us to assist you in the unlikely event of loss or damage please note the following upon receipt of the goods.

1. Is there any damage to the outer packaging? If so please photograph this before unwrapping further.

2. Clearly photograph the damage/defect to the product.

To proceed with a damage claim we will require the above photographic proof that the goods were damaged prior to receipt. Failure to provide this information may hinder the claims process.
